WONDERFUL burger

Spinning was FUN, Lunch was FUN, work was......stressful, but let's look past that!

I woke up a little late this morning and kept breakfast light because I knew an early lunch was in store, seeing as I had to be at work by 11:30.
PUFFINS + Multigrain Cherrios = AWESOME COMBO! :D Then came lunch!! YAY! Remember this post?! Well, my little surprise turned out BETTER than expected. I decided to purchase a bag of lentils while I was at WalMart the other day. I got to thinking....less than $1 for this whole bag? Why have I been being lazy and buying much less in cans for so long? Well that's over. Anyways, I wasn't sure what to do with them, but I bought them and decided to have some fun! And FUN it was! Afterwards, I was heading towards the frozen foods and passed by veggie burgers..... ***LiGhTBuLb***
N 'n D Veggie Burger
no preservatives, all natural, customizable ;)
And it was SOOOOO easy...here's the components:
  • 1/3cup Black Beans
  • 1/2 cup cooked lentils
  • ~1/3c chopped onion (or really any veggies!)
  • 1/4c Whole Wheat Bread Crumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 2T Chia Seeds
  • Seasonings of your choice (I used Garlic Powder (I was out of the real stuff) and Mrs. Dash Table Blend)

MASH the first two ingredients

Mix in the remaining ingredients

Divide into 4 Burgers. (could it be any easier?!) I froze the other 3, wrapped in foil.

Oh ya....I cooked them on Medium heat in a frying pan sprayed with PAM for 10 minutes, flipping half way through.

Paired with Laughing Cow & Juicy Tomatoes.....and a Gala Apple on the side!
HOW could you resist trying this?
No really, HOW?!

After a long day at work, I rushed home and fixed some Tuna Salad Lettuce Boats. I mixed one can of tuna with Honey Mustard, split it between four romaine leaves and topped it off with chopped carrots. It was delicious, but I only ate 2 of the 4 because I knew that I needed some carbs to make it through my INTENSE spinning class that was full speed ahead!
So I toasted a Kashi Heart to Heart Waffle and topped it off with some all natural Crunchy PB!But before driving to the gym, I discovered this little guy! The lovely people at POM Wonderful asked if I would like to try their product and I enthusiastically said YES! I have not tried it yet, but I've got a full review ahead! :D
I can't wait to try it out!!

After a great Spin Class and a refreshing shower, I made a little snack.....
  • 4 small strawberries, sliced {all that was left! :( }
  • A Small Banana, sliced
  • The rest of my Vanilla FF Yogurt (about 1/4 cup)

I only ended up eating ~1/3 of that GNU bar! I absolutely LOVED the texture, but orange in any other form than the fruit doesn't exactly agree with my tastebuds. I can't wait to try the chocolate one though! I gave the remainder of the bar to my mom, who thought it was very good!

Thanks again to Danica, who sent them to me!

**********

I made up for the lack of carb-age by ending the night with a 100 Calorie Popcorn and....a Cone of Fat Free FroYo (I am an addict!..Then again, I did stop at two small cones, so that shows some retraint! haha).

It's time to win yourself some chocolate....with benefits! :)

  4. What creative burgers! They look delicious and so amazing. I've got to try those, maybe with some grated carrot and/or zucchini.

Can't wait to hear your review. I've seen POM's on more and more blogs lately, but I'm still on the fence as to whether I want to try them or not, seeing as I'm not a huge juice drinker.

    Much love,
    Rachel

  7. Thanks for the burger recipe. Before blogging I thought the only burgers you could make were with meat. How wrong I was :)))

  9. That burger does look amazing, especially with the laughing cow cheese! I do the same thing as you as far as buying canned and being "too lazy" to buy the dried beans, even thought they are cheaper. Sometimes convenience just wins, but I think the dried beans work better for most recipes (after they've been cooked of course).

Enjoy the POM drink! I don't know if I'm such a fan. I've had my POM in the refrigerator for about 3 weeks now and it's only half empty...maybe I got the wrong flavor.

  19. yay i love love love your burger. It looks like those expensive restaurant veggie patties that aren't even all that healthy for ya, but taste AMAZING. Good for you for buying lentils raw!! I'm just tooo lazy to buy them NOT in a can, but it is seriously a money saver. :)

I like puffins with honey nut cherrios cuz the multi-grains get soggy reaaally fast and i end up devouring a bowl of cereal in about...2 minutes. hahah
