Give Me 20

Not minutes or push-ups, but....Dollars! That's right. Gaze at the picture below and try to figure out how I only spent $21.95!? I shopped at H.E.B. today and was so proud of my purchases. I did have $3.74 of coupons, but seriously...I got all of this:
  • Multigrain Cherrios
  • Back to Nature Poppy Thyme Crackers (New and only $.99?! Whaaat?!)
  • A CLIF MOJO Bar ($1)
  • A Gallon of Milk ($1.99)
  • A bag of black beans
  • Maranatha Organic Creamy Almond Butter ($3.29)
  • Green Leaf Lettuce ($1.19)
  • Late July Mini PB Crackers (Free with coupon)
  • OIKOS (free with coupon)
  • Some chocolate chips from the bulk bin
  • 3 apples
  • 3 peaches
  • 1 onion
  • 2 rutabaga
  • 1 sweet potato
  • 4 large bananas
  • A Box of Truvia ($3.59)

No, I don't buy much organic, but after seeing FOOD INC, that may change! haha Anyways, my eats were good and bad today (and I mean taste-wise)

Breakfast was a yummy combo of strawberries, banana, Stonyfield Farm FF Yogurt and 1/2 of a crumbled Odwallla Bar! :D

Followed by two small bowls (1.5 servings?!) of Multigrain Cherrios while I read blogs from 7-9:30AM! YEP! I made it through my whole blogroll! :DAfter hitting up the gym and working the treadmill for a good 40 minutes, I came home, got ready and made LUNCH! It was AHHH-mazing, but I was "Thanksgiving Dinner" full afterwards! I toasted an Oroweat Eng. Muff and topped 1/2 with Hummus and 1/2 with Refried Black Beans. Then I topped them both with lots of hearty lentils and steamed some chopped broccoli on the side!

Oh, and I covered it all with a blanket of Chili Powder!
My drink of choice?!....Of course, a POM Spritzer!
Sometime after my successful grocery trip, I munched on an apple.
(Don't you love my screen saver?!)I also chopped up the lettuce that I just bought and stored it in an old school tupperware lined with a paper towel. Does anyone else do that?! I tell you, I can come back one and a half weeks later and it will still be crisp! Next thing I know, it's 4PM and I have to leave for work in 30 minutes. I wasn't hungry, but knew that I wouldn't be eating until 10:30PM...hmmm?!
I decided to try something new (bad idea!). I mashed a micro-ed sweet potato and topped it with a big scoop of Crunchy PB and Cinnamon. After a few bites, I found a small hair and although it was probably mine (or my dog's..eww!), I was grossed out and threw it all away. Nothing else sounded good so I dug into my new find.....Back to Nature Poppy Thyme Crackers. HELLO! These are so good. You can really taste the freshness of the Thyme and they are so crisp and flaky...like a Ritz! I ate wayyyy too many!
Afterwards, I had a Honey OIKOS with the last of my Kashi GoLean Crunch on top!
Creamy, Crunchy and Sweet...Things I am always in the mood for! :D

Penny's Low Fat Desserts Chocolate Chip Cookie
Cookies & Milk = Yum....especially after a hard day's work, no?!
A chocolate chip cookie is the traditional, feel good baked good and everyone has their own spin on the classic chocolate-dotted creation. Penny's variety is huge (I love that all of their cookies are so big!). If you are a crunchy fan, then this is not the thing for you. However, everyone else better hold onto their hats because Penny's Low Fat Desserts Chocolate Chip Cookie is LOADED with chocolate chips (and only has 3g of fat?! It's amazing!). The whole wheat flour & oatmeal make for such a soft (almost fluffy) base and the sweetness is spot on! It almosts tastes like a very dense, whole wheat, chocolate chip pancake! YUMM!

Don't forget about my RACE FOR THE CURE FUNDRAISER! :D

And that's a wrap!

Check out the giveaway over at Lucky Taste Buds! Can you say HELLO?!

  5. What is Food Inc, and how can I view it?? I mean, I don't know if I like the idea of watching something that makes me want to buy all organic, but I still enjoy those types of movies. As an RD it's good to know about all the views out there!

  7. I am going to have to invest in some of Penny's cookies! They look great and your description of them makes me want them even more!! Anything that's kind of like a cookie and kind of like a pancake and is loaded with chocolate chips is worth ordering!! I may have to ask for that for my birthday...

Anyway, I wanted to ask you about the rutabaga you picked up. How do you plan on preparing it? Is it in season right now?
