PB/C rollin' 0 to 60

I have officially tried them all: Cookie Dough, Chocolate Almond Cherry and Chocolate Peanut Butter. In fact, I just wrote them in the order of my affinity for them...saving the best for last. ;) Luna Protein Chocolate Peanut Butter Bar- Granted, I did not know that this would be the best one, but I had a pretty good idea.

This was my favorite of the three Luna Protein Bars because the flavors really worked with the texture and overall feel of the bar. This variety also tasted most like a candy bar and least like a protein bar! :D
The chewy, nougat-like bar is enrobed in just enough chocolate to provide a smooth mouthfeel. There are some random peanuts and a few soy cirsps thrown in for texture...but overall, it's chew-chew-chew!
Here's my latest "dorm-made" trick:
However, it's really great for anyone who is on the go and needs a portable breakfast or snack.
Nothing ground-breaking... Just a Banana, the Nut Butter of your choosing and a Big Tortilla.
Wrap... (fold the ends in so the contents stay enclosed!)
Roll...Wrap with a paper towel/aluminum foil and...Out the door you go! This is fairly nutritious and well rounded, especially if you use a sprouted grain tortilla!
Looks similar to an ice cream cone. Mmm, ice cream...
Whoever came up with Dark Chocolate Dreams is brilliant...Not because it is some revolutionary idea that is sweeping the nation; but because it is plain and simple and they had to know it would sell BIG. Someone just had to get out there and make it happen. Thank you...whoever you are.
This is random, but I thought I'd let you know that this Kashi GoLean Caramel Peanut Roll is ta-ta-tasty! :D Reminds me of a Payday with chewy nougat mixed in. YUM!
Elmo and Friends deliver quite the tasty breakfast! :D
Check out what I will be diving into later:
A Snickerdoodle Cupcake!
My roommate and I went to a cupcake shop that we just discovered here in town and it was SO CUTE! The second that you walk in, it smells heavenly. The case is packed with cupcakes of all shapes and sizes.
I believe we will be making this $2.75 voyage a Friday Ritual! :DThe roomie got a dreamy chocolate one. There were so many to pick from, it is not even funny!
LORELAI: Wow, you beat me home by two minutes and your nose is already in the books.
RORY: I can go from zero to studying in less than sixty seconds.
Let's see if I can beat Rory's record...Turn off computer. Study. Ready? Go!

Sunny Choice

Gosh I love making up random titles. Simple Pleasures. Anyhoo...

Healthy Choice has not exactly earned a spot as my GO TO frozen meal company. However, I'm sure you noticed their new packaging and with that comes...
New Recipes! I am allllll over new food items, and when I spotted the Healthy Choice Grilled Basil Chicken meal in the small freezer section here at the dorms, I decided to give HC a fighting chance. Healthy Choice...show me what you've got!
Let's see here...It's Mediterranean inspired, which has something to do with the "Duotray Steamcooker"? Who knows. Let's proceed.
As you can see above, 20g of whole grain and 20g of protein are packed into this dish and let's be honest, the ingredient list is pretty short when compared to the average (not claiming to be all natural) frozen dinner out there. I was impressed!
There is this handy picture representation of how to prepare the meal. Not good enough for you? Well, lucky for you, you are under the care of a scrutinizing food blogger...
Right after I popped it out of the microwave:
Let's just look at this for a second. First of all, you can see that noodles are not the main star, which I loved. LOTS of chicken. The veggies were big and made their presence known! :D It looks surprisingly fresh, no?
To continue with the fairly easy assembly of this meal, pour the contents into the sturdy bowl containing the intriguing basil tomato sauce.
Stir and enjoy. The chicken was the best chicken that I have ever had in a frozen dinner. LARGE pieces and alot of it. The veggies tasted like I just chopped them up and added them after a short saute. No, really, how in the world did they keep the red pepper and zucchini so fresh and tender? The noodles were just a tad past the al dente I was hoping for and the sauce could have used an extra kick of flavor; but, overall, I have come to look at Healthy Choice in a new light! I think they have changed for the BETTER!
The folks over at Sunshine Burger sent me some $1.00 off coupons so that I can continue to enjoy their burgers on a regular basis. By regular, I mean daily. Just joking. Sort of. ;) These things are delicious, all natural and really the way to go when it comes to veggie burgers (in my opinion) !
Sunshine Burger, Women's Bread, Frozen Broccoli & a Mustard pouch from the dining hall...
A sensationally nutritious and delicious "dorm-made" meal! :D

Women's Mission

Such a simple phrase, but French Meadow Bakery has made it their mission. They dish out some darn tasty creations packed with sprouted grains (PROTEIN) and made solely from all natural and organic ingredients. Furthermore, they are certified by many of the top agencies and are committed to sustainability. Love it.
I loved the idea behind French Meadow Bakery and when I saw their Women's Bread, I was immediately intrigued. This was a must try in my mind...
I recieved this product from French Meadow Bakery at no cost.
Each serving is two slices, which offers 180 calories, a healthy serving of fat, 3g of fiber and a whopping 14 grams of protein.
I utilized this small, yet dense, flavor-packed, soft, texturally amazing bread in a number of ways this week and each time, my tastebuds gave me a round of applause. ;)
Remember my dorm-made tuna salad? Women's Bread was the base.
Dark Chocolate Dreams could enrobe just about any food on the planet and make me smile.
Check out the dense, yet soft nature of the bread. It may be a bit smaller than the bread that you are used to chowing down on, but what it has to offer is so much bigger. It also has a nutty flavor from all of the sprouted grains that are packed within and, really, you don't need to put a thing on it to enjoy what it has to offer.
It's simply delicious...and nutritious!
When you toast it, the yum factor is increased exponentially. Now, your bread has a crusty exterior that you sink your teeth through to reach the dense and chewy interior that melds with the soft and sweet banana enrobed in the creamy peanut butter and....
I just described foodie nirvana.
It's kind of like when I toasted this bad boy: Advice of the day: Go pick up one of these products, toast them, lather them with peanut butter, sink into foodie nirvana, come back and thank me. Ready?? Go!

The Time Has Come

Well, I never thought I'd see the day when I described something as "Chocolate Cherry" as being superior to something "Cookie Dough"...I mean, really, what can beat sinful cookie dough? ...However, the time has come, the Walrus said. Why do I know that quote, yet that poem is as familiar as the jargon that pops up on the blue screen when my computer crashes?

Luna Protein

Chocolate Cherry Almond Bar > Cookie Dough Bar

Sure, the texture was still very nougat-y (a combo between a tootsie roll, taffy and a milk way sans caramel). However, this flavor profile just worked with the ultra chewy texture. There were small bits of almonds and cherry pieces dispersed throughout that added a slight textural difference and the thin layer of chocolate melted amongst the heat of my mouth to enrobe the chewy sweet stuff in smooth chocolate goodness.
Good thing mama sent two of these and only one of the cookie dough flavor. The Chocolate Peanut Butter flavor is the only lone ranger left. Perhaps I shall devour it tomorrow...Did I save the best for last? You tell me!
