Peanut Butter Mini Cinni Rolls

I just made the most amazing breakfast ever. So good that I had to blog about it immediately. It all started with a hungry tummy, a Traditional Country FlatOut Artisan FOLDit Flatbread and my creativity going full force.

Remember when I told you that FlatOut sent me some yummy goodies? Well, I knew that my surplus of bread needed to be devoured, but plain ole' sammies were going to get old pretty fast.

I woke up this morning and decided that the contents of this bright green package would be the basis for my breakfast. But what to do?

Well, peanut butter was almost a given. Then, I spotted the little jar of cinnamon sugar that I keep on hand (you never know!) and it all came together in my crazy little culinary mind.

Spread the FlatOut with peanut butter and sprinkle with a cinnamon sugar mixture.
Continue to top with walnuts and flax for some nuttiness.
Start at one of the shorter ends and tightly roll your way to the other short end. Cut the log into about 3 two-bite rolls.
These FlatOut FOLDits are so pliable that you can manipulate the rolls to stay together without toothpicks or anything. This will not work the same with tortillas; but you could try it with a somewhat thin and doughy flatbread.
Place in a nonstick baking dish and bake for about 10 minutes at 350*.
I topped mine with the icing I had leftover from my "faux cake doughnuts". Crispy on the outside. Doughy on the inside. Crunchy from the nuts. Buttery from the peanut butter. Sweet from the icing. Absolutely divine and oh so easy.
What is the most creative breakfast that you have ever whipped up? I would have to say that these peanut butter mini cinni rolls are at the top of the list!

Greek...English...American...Greek

Dinner tonight began as a Greek inspired dish. I whipped up an "on-a-whim" tsatsiki sauce:

1/2 cup finely chopped English Cucumber
~2T Plain Yogurt
A drizzle of EVOO
S&P to taste
1 Large clove of garlic, finely minced
When I was raiding the fridge, the lemon juice managed to go unseen. Out of sight, out of mind. Darn!

I was planning on making a greek burger; but then I saw the American cheese, ketchup and honey mustard, I knew that a good ole' fashioned burgg was just what I wanted. :) Oh well, the sauce can chill in the fridge for another time. By the way, sauteed yellow squash with a touch of sea salt makes my mouth water. I managed to kill that stack in 0.3857 seconds, so I made a new side to accompany my sizzlin' burger!
THE SAUCE! I am so resourceful. Surprisingly enough, that combo made a KILLER salad "dressing".
My poor attempt at a ketchup heart. I won't quit my day job.
What's that weird looking bread that my burger is perched upon? It's a FlatOut creation and it's GOOD!FlatOut Artisan FOLDit Flatbread to be exact. I was sent a box of things from FlatOut to review (free to me, but my true opinion is shared...no worries on that front!). These are much more pliable than I was expecting, which also translates into a slight doughy and chewy nature. However, they are sturdy and didn't even develop a slight rip as I devoured my oversized burger. The flavor made me think of those frozen sausage, egg & cheese breakfast sandwiches that you can buy pretty cheap. This sounds like an odd and demeaning comparison, but I actually LOVED it. I wouldn't touch one of those sandwiches these days (probably...), but it was a weirdly delicious flashback. I can't describe it.
Go try it for yourself.
They also pair quite nicely with mashed chickpeas, tomatoes, cheese and mustard.
Just sayin'
Okay, so if you read my last post, you are probably DYING from suspense. Well, no worries because I shall reveal the new bar that I found at Target yesterday.
Thaaaat's right, folks. My absolute favorite cereal as a kid was Life cereal. Heck, it's still my favorite and the only reason that I don't buy it very often is because it will disappear in approximately 2 days. That is no joke. Therefore, when I spotted these babies...their $2.69 price tag was the last thing on my mind.
Into the cart they went...
Vitamins, protein, fiber...Oh buddy! You didn't even need to add anything to LIFE to make me excited. Now, I am just out of my mind... Like "rip it open in the car" excited.
This should read: For the big kids stuck in a grown-up's body
Not too shabby, eh?
Oh, whatever...what do they taste like?
They taste like Quaker Oatmeal to Go, to tell you the truth. Sure, they have thier own little touches, but the overall texture is remarkably similar. Quaker knew that the "Life" logo slapped on the box would sell me.
I microwaved it for 10 seconds (per Quaker's advice) and enjoyed this bad boy on the way to work this morning. Hot diggity dog. The bar is chewy, yet had a bit of crunch here and there from the life cereal incorporated throughout (although, it could have been any crunchy cereal and I wouldn't have known the difference...). The walnuts on top didn't add much texturally, but they did add to the overall feel of warm banana nut bread straight from the oven. It was good, guys. Pick up a box if you see 'em. Not to mention...it was really satisfying and kept me full for quite some time. I'm impressed.
And we shall end this post on a Greek note. I found Dannon Greek Yogurt at the store yesterday and had to give it a try...new products always get the best of me.
It was phenomenal. The fruit on the bottom mixed into the ultra thick, perfectly sweetened yogurt and created the most beautiful baby pink color. The flavor was so cohesive and the spontaneous bites of strawberry were well received. YUM! I would splurge on one of these bad boys every week. Well worth the $1.00 price tag!

That's enough yummy eats for now...Tomorrow is friday, in case you forgot. Heck ya! I shall celebrate with a smoothie. How will you celebrate?

Suspense Straws

The rain is on its way...Oh joY! I am getting a little tired of trekking to work in the pouring rain and trekking home in the flooded roads with my windsheild covered in streams of the wet culprit. If I was chilling at home with plenty of snacks, movies and a comfy set of pajamas...rain would be more than welcomed! ;)

I did manage to sneak into Target on the way home to snag a few things and I stumbled upon a NEW PRODUCT! Ahhh...like a kid in a candy store. You'll have to wait until tomorrow though because I have not exactly tried it yet. The suspense...
I then settled in for a quick, easy, filling dinner. I thank college for my skillz in preparing this dish.

Toast an English Muffin and finish it off with lotsa cheese!
Be lazy (or you could say "efficient") and microwave an egg in a small dish for 1 minute. Slice a tomato and a peach in the meantime.
Sit on the couch and turn on So You Think You Can Dance for the full effect.
Then, I popped open a package that was perched upon my doorstep (it managed to escape the flood of rain falling from the sky...)
Of course, I had to dig right on in (duh!) and I opted to go the sweet route, seeing as I was in major need of a little dessert by this point (it's been a whole 6 hours since I had chocolate. Too long.).
MMM…Firm, crispy straws provide a hearty crunch beneath your teeth and transform into a light and airy mouthful after just a few chews. They were lightly coated with a delightful dusting of subtly sweet apple cinnamon flavor. These extremely crispy, crunchy straws provide you with a taste experience remarkably comparable to Taco Bell’s Cinnamon Twists. I haven’t had those in…a long time (do they still sell them?), but if you ever bit into those and enjoyed the experience, then step on up to the Sensible Portions plate!
One ounce is a serving, but I felt like I was eating exponentially more than one ounce! :D
These are addicting folks. Thank goodness I had a single serving baggie (which was packed with a substantial serving!) because I am pretty sure that the only thing that kept me from munch, munch, munchin’ was the fact that my hand was sadly reaching into an empty bag.

I received these as a free sample from the company, but I can whole-heartedly say that I will be purchasing these again. If I can’t find them in the grocery stores nearby, then I would undoubtedly pay $30 for 24 delightful bags of apple cinnamon goodness at the Sensible Portions online store.

And on that note, I shall go hit the sack. Tomorrow is Thursday! The weekend is on its way! Woo hoo!!

What's on the agenda this weekend? I am preparing for a little trip-action! So excited. So much to do.

What new products have you ran into lately? Fill me in folks. I am a nosy little foodie!

Multi-Plus

This just posted randomly before I could even say "hey", so I bet some of you enjoyed making up your own little stories for the strand of pictures that popped up.

It probably started by glancing at the title and thinking that I was going to talk about this brand new super vitamin that can change your whole life. Not even on the right track there, friends.

Then you would see this box and be prepped for one stellar review. Okay, so that wouldn't have been too far off.

Emily...Did you know that you are a sucker for advertisements? Yes, I am lured in by flashy phrases, but I do NOT take them at face value. Bad idea.
You only get 3/4 cup in a serving...Who decided that one? Yea, we are definitely on the same page here.
Vitamins and minerals. I knew this post had some vitamin action going on. Hey, I wonder if this stuff is any good? haha You caught me. Oh, and YES...it's some amazing stuff. It tastes remarkably like Apple Cinnamon Cheerios.
I wonder if she realizes that we already saw a picture of the box earlier?
Man, she sure does like cereal. Yea, I sure do. Got a problem???
YUM! I bet she put those two cereals in the same bowl. Who does she think she is?
Well, this is random. Ice Cream. Nutritious is Delicious. Hey, one out of two ain't bad.
She must really like these Blue ice cream treats. Yea, I REALLLY do!

Soooo....How'd I do? Could I fall back on mind reading, if this whole college thing doesn't work out?! ;)
