Choco-licious Departure

Tomorrow, tomorrow, I go home, tomorrow...It's only a daaaaaayyyy, AAAAAA-wayyyyyy! (haha I tried!).

Yep, tomorrow, I am headed home and the minute that my feet hit the ground, my mom and I are headed to Target to stock up on all essential cooking items! I am so pumped...I may never leave my kitchen! ;) If I never leave the kitchen, then you can bet your bottom dollar, neither will my two little sou chefs...

Pink furry frame no charge.
As if this post wasn't exciting enough, an arsenal of Choco-licious photos were piling up on my camera...it's time to share the deliciousness:
Cocoa Dusted Emerald Gems
The. best. oatmeal. ever.
  • 1 packet Nature's Path Organic Maple Nut Oatmeal
  • 1/2 banana, chopped, frozen
  • 1 Scoop of Natural Peanut Buttah
  • 1 Mini Chocolate Bar, crumbled
Mix the first two ingredients with a generous splash or two of milk. Microwave. Take it to the next level with the Chocolate and Peanut Butter.
Simple, Delicious, Fairly Nutritious
Alexa and I made a spontaneous trip to the grocery store to pick up a creamy treat. There are two in each pack. They are sinfully delicious. They go by the name "Smart Ones Desserts". The Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough was calling our name...rather loudly...I had to throw him in the cart to avoid the stares. Then again, Alexa and I could cause a scene even if our dessert wasn't yelling at us! We're pretty cool...
Penny's Low Fat Desserts NSA Chocolate Truffle Cookie

Straight from the Freezer: Creamy, Fudgy, Cool, Sinful
After a round in the Toaster: Firm, somewhat crumbly/toasty (duh!) crust, straight from the oven sensation, creamy/fudgy goodness ensues within your mouth
Sensational. Unbelievable.

Supply and Demand...Foodie Style

IT's FRIDAY! Folks, I have been waiting for this day for quite some time! I gave my last speech today over my aforementioned topic and it went well (thankfully). Now, this is going to be one rockin' weekend because this little blogger is JETTING home (quite literally) on monday afternoon! However, until then, there are LOTS of things to do (I won't bore you with specifics! haha). Then again, I've got lots of good eats to share with you...and more to come, so let's get on to the good stuff:

Kashi Waffle + Frozen Banana + Peanut Butttter = Crunchy, Cool, Creamy...FANTASTIC! :D Kashi TLC Trail Mix Bar, I'm sorry to have betrayed you. See, for some reason, I saw this bar as just an ordinary, typical bar and would always reach for something with a "flashier" name (Pumpkin PIE Bar, anyone?). However, there is truly something special about this tasty creation!
M & M's can make a HECTIC to-do list seem alot better! ;)
I doctored up the pre-made spinach salad that is offered in the dorms (perhaps I should change my major becuase I make for a fineee doctor!) with a big scoop of Sabra Red Pepper Hummus. Between the creamy, flavorful hummus and smooth egg yolks...dressing was not required!
Microwave some Egg Beaters with some shredded spinach and stuff it into a pita. This will most definitely become a regular addition!
Nutritious, Delicious and QUICK & FILLING!

LOOOOOOOK @ what I stumbled upon in the "Convenience store" type place in my dorms. :O
You would have thought I struck gold. See, typically they offer Froot Loops or Pops! Cereal, so when I saw that these little guys had joined the mix, I basically piled as many into my hands a possible...and then Alexa followed suit! haha Hopefully, by buying these, the school will see the DEMAND and increase the SUPPLY! :D

No, economics isn't my major...I'm a doctor...remember?! ;)
Here's a little Penny's Low Fat Desserts Action for your pleasure:
I may or may not have eaten 2 a day for the past 3 or so days...Shhh...keep it on the DL!

Almond Poppy Seed Muffin Top
Love at First BITE!
FLUFFFFFY! (I used to have a teddy bear named Fluffy and he even got his own seat on the airplane one Christmas when we were flying to my Grandpa's house! haha This was before the era of overly packed planes and skyrocketing prices...).
Chocolate Chip Cookie with Chunky Peanut Butter up top!
Wouldn't you like to sink your teeth into that!? MMM hmm! Don't forget to enter my GIVEAWAY for Penny's tasty treats! I am also hosting a giveaway through my other blog. Che-che-che-check it!!
I will announce both winners on Monday before I depart into the bright blue sky!
(It better be bright blue!!!).

~Typical Friday Sammie~

And now, for a little paragraph full of LOTS of goodness!

Leslie Loves Veggies and I am LOVING the looks of winning this soda! :D ALSO, don't forget to check out my fellow schnauzer friend's giveaway! An Apple A Day is having a SOUP giveaway! Comforting! :) What's more? Lucky Taste Buds wants to share her luck with you! Enter her birthday giveaway HERE by entering her totally awesome Soda Stream Giveaway and her Peanutttty Giveaway! Mr. Pita & Amy have a date...DOWNtown!

I put Mr. Pita to good use yesterday. See, I was getting tired of having the traditional ole' salad (snoooze!) because the salad bar options are not very expansive. Therefore, I opted to throw a little bread into the mix (ALWAYS helps! :D). Honestly, Mrs. Pita can have her man because he is a bit too dry and flimsy for me!
Rewind about 14 hours back and here I am...Ready to take on the 20mph wind...One bite of my Kashi TLC bar and one sip of my dorm-made latte...at a time!
Penny's Low Fat Desserts Chocolate Chocolate Chip Muffin Top (Good NIGHT! Straight from the freezer...be prepped for some fudge-eeee action!).
Have you entered my giveaway? Just lookin' out for ya!
It's beginning to look alot like Christmas!
I have to give a speech this Friday and my topic is Operation Christmas Child. It is such a great organization and I encourage you all to click on that link, learn more and participate! :D
Variations of my beloved friend, Mrs. PB&J! No not THAT PB&J (although she is a beloved friend! :D)...These yummy pals:
Mrs. PBJ made Mr. Pita not seem so shabby! ;)
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I guess it needs to be done. Amy's Low Fat Low Sodium Minestrone Soup left me DOWNtown!

Keep in mind this review is for the LOW Sodium variety.

Here is an excerpt from a review that I wrote for iateapie.net:

Let me just say that this can is jam crammed with veggies… peas, carrots, onions, potatoes, celery, tomatoes…you name it! There are also a handful of funky shaped noodles that are extremely over cooked and I wish that Amy’s would simply leave this mushy component out. The other element of this low sodium minestrone soup is perfectly tender kidney beans. See how I said low sodium just now…I thought I should remind you. I never add salt to my food and I generally prefer low sodium things, so for me to say that this soup is lacking a little in the flavor department should speak volumes.
NOTICE what is left in my bowl: The MUSHY noodles.
Case Closed.

Poppy Pita Pizza

This is the first free pizza that I have gotten all year...I must not be in the right clubs! ;)

As you can see, I clearly could not contain myself long enough to find my camera!

This was my attempt at taking a picture of a jack rabbit that we saw as we were walking back to the dorms after dominating in our basketball game!
Epic Fail!

Nature's Path Maple Nut Oatmeal (GREAT all natural flavor!) with 1 whole mashed banana mixed in...graced with melty MaraNatha goodness.
This may have been the creamiest thing I have ever eaten...maybe!?

Sara Lee 100% Whole Wheat Mr. Pita

Pre- perforated! Chea!

What is Mr. Pita hiding?!

...a sunshine burger and melty mozzarella! MMM MMM baby!

Then, I stopped by my tiny mailbox and picked up a package slip, which I exchanged for this pretty package...
Yes, my mom wraps my care packages in wrapping paper...
she rocks!

My homemade card (per usual) doubled as a COUNTDOWN!!
9 days! :D
She used to be an elementary school teacher...can you tell? lol

Then my dad dogs wrote a little side note inside! ;)

Uh-oh...Emily's weakness...

Caramel Candy Corn…Gone in a FLASH!

To ensure that the apple-y corn did not disappear quite as quickly, I preportioned a little snack mix into 3 little baggies. Here is what was divvied up for the mix:
  • 1 single serve bag of pretzel goldfish
  • 1- 100 calorie pack of Emerald Almonds
  • 1- small homemade baggie of Apple Caramel Candy Corn- courtesy of Mama N'nD!
Can't wait to dive in...I've got three tests on Thursday. Looks like the perfect fuel!

Penny's Low Fat Desserts Almond Poppy Seed Muffin Top
YUMMM! These tops are extra dense and super soft. After a round in the toaster, our whole dorm suite smelled like fresh baked sweet bread! :)
The edges got crispy, while the inside was moist and dense...homemade to the maxxx!
MMM! The almond flavoring was subtle, yet present. I loved the presence of almond instead of the typical pairing of lemon and poppy seed. Oh yea...only 110 calories and 1g of fat. Just throwing that out there.

A nice crunch, perfect sweetness, doughy, dense, DELICIOUS!!!! Get your Penny's for FREE.
Okay, enough talk! Half time is almost over...back to the FOOOOOOTBALL!...and a Pizza Lunchable…Oh, yes I did! I just thought it would be fun to reenact my 6th grade cafeteria experience (minus the long lines, small cafeteria, daily menu with an option of hamburger or pizza and clique-ridden tables!). Did you enjoy that little flashback?

Edited to add: Pizza Lunchables have changed and are not nearly as good as they used to be. Oh, and the red stick is gone...what do you spread the sauce with now? Also, the pizza "crusts" shrunk to the size of a ritz. Perhaps, my taste buds have just matured... Perhaps, but the lunchables have also matured...for the worse!
